Located in historic Sturbridge, Massachusetts, Principium Recovery offers an innovative approach to substance abuse treatment by utilizing a combination of evidenced-based treatment techniques in order to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. We believe that in order to help our patients to overcome their addiction to drugs or alcohol, the entire person must be treated. This includes their physical/medical needs, emotional/psychiatric needs, as well as their social and spiritual needs. Our years of experience have shown us that individuals with addictions typically have multiple unresolved issues from their past and that by utilizing an Integrative approach we can most effectively address these complex issues and heal our patient’s addictive behaviors.
This begins with a multi-disciplinary comprehensive assessment and evaluation. No two patients are identical and so their treatment needs will vary. The specific vulnerability factors will be identified along with the patient’s strengths. Together they will help to determine the best course of treatment for each individual. The components of this comprehensive assessment include a complete medical history, a full panel of laboratory tests and a complete psycho-social evaluation. Following this set of assessments the treatment plan will develop an integrated treatment plan designed to address the identified needs.
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) has been proven to be an effective means of treating addiction. FDA-approved medications such as Buprenorphine and Naltrexone have been shown to be the most effective means of treating Opioid and Alcohol addictions. Using an Integrative approach to treatment, we at Principium Recovery combine the use of these medications with individual, group and family therapy, as indicated, in order to best achieve positive outcomes for our patients. Patients will be assisted by our Clinical staff to process past trauma, address psychological problems, learn healthy coping strategies, and develop better self-esteem and confidence.
Unlike many other substance abuse clinics, Principium Recovery is an office-based program. This means that our patients enjoy the benefits of a private, personalized approach to their treatment. We employ state of the art services, including the use of Suboxone which is initiated by our Physicians in private, individualized sessions. Our offices are conveniently located, and our Clinical Staff all have expertise in working with patients who have struggled with addictions. The team provides support for patients throughout all the phases of treatment. Every patient has different needs, and our Clinical staff are ready to provide individual, group, and family therapy in a warm, welcoming treatment environment.
Many people still use the term “alcoholism” to refer to the condition in which one has a negative relationship with alcohol. This is not a formal, clinical term but a more casual term that often carries with it certain negative stereotypes. The current medically preferred term is Alcohol Use Disorder and research has shown that it is a relapsing brain disorder that is characterized by the inability to stop or control alcohol use despite adverse social, occupational or health hazards. At Principium Recovery, we approach the treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder from an Integrative perspective by taking into consideration all the elements of the patient’s life and experience by employing Medically Assisted Treatment that focuses on the whole individual as they move through the recovery process.
